Workshops
Art classes and workshops, residential or non residential, are held throughout the year in the home studio Blue Haze on the English Riviera or at The Burgh Island Hotel – Devon and now Malawi in Africa with an Island Art Expedition with sustainable impact travel UK company Orbis.
The Mercure Hotel in Torbay and The Mayne Gallery in Kingsbridge Devon will also host sip and paint events (see below).
Workshops are also available for schools and colleges and for corporations for team building and development.
STUDIO WORKSHOPS 2025
Small groups (max 5), ensure lots of individual attention in a relaxed and informal environment, Emma has been professionally painting coaching and teaching art and artists for 30 years.
Great for a group of people you know or come along and meet new friends and share tips and ideas and be inspired.
Students of all abilities join; from beginner to advanced. These courses are especially good for people that want to learn some great techniques, learn how to convey expression, use different tools, and have fun at the same time.
Art is to be explored and enjoyed!
Individual tuition is also available which is discussed beforehand and tailored to the needs of the student.

A new two day course where you will learn to paint in acrylics using contemporary impressionist techniques.
Suitable for all abilities from beginners to advanced in a friendly and relaxed home studio environment in artist Emma’s house in Torbay.
There will be many tips and ideas given throughout the day to help you achieve success with your painting, exploring colour and how to portray light and movement in your painting like the impressionists.

MINDFUL EXPRESSION PAINTING RETREAT

A relaxing day course where you are invited to paint and sketch using a variety of techniques and a chance to really connect with your unique creativity and your own natural flow.
Hosted by Emma and Clare at Highwell in Churchstow, near Bantham on Clare’s luxury secluded 5 acre estate with stunning gardens, re-wilded meadows, natural woodlands and 5 mins to the sea.
Creativity is a fantastic way to tune into yourself and part of the day will be spent it silence after exploring the beautiful Highwell grounds and area.
The grounds provide many beautiful special little spots to work privately and take in a single flower or to take in a much larger view or work in a small group should you wish.
You will be invited to sketch and paint after learning some helpful techniques with demonstrations from Emma Carter Bromfield, Burgh Island Artist, an experienced art tutor who loves to encourage freedom of creativity and the benefits of a mindful practice.

I have full DBS certificate and am an experienced trainer, of young, old or demotivated at work.
My experience ranges from the corporate to the therapeutic, to the easy light painting sessions to the more in depth art psychology. I have held workshops at The BMW training academy for 3 years, care homes, primary schools, adult education, A levels and primary schools, art societies and individuals tuition for 30 years. My aim in all is to connect you to your creativity, inspire and help you explore your talents and support you in the process.
